Barbara Hughes’ SunClasses, “Power of Music” Series is designed as an after-school program for teenagers 12-18 years old.

Light Yourself & Tap Your Creativity
A 12-Week After School Series for Teens

Gain confidence in expressing yourself in a fun, safe environment.

Work with Professional Musicians to create a song and learn about the Entertainment Industry.

Learn how to write lyrics and collaborate on a group song and finish with a Professionally Recorded CD.

Learn to listen to the music and put the “feel” behind a song.

Requirements:

An Open Heart and Mind
A commitment to attend all sessions
No Musical Experience Needed

“The Power of Music Program has been …amazing and inspirational….It’s taught me business skills and has gotten me out into the world working and sharing my ideas with others. This program has taken something that I love and turned it into my own. Meeting and working with Barbara Hughes was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had.

She taught me so much about music and how to understand it. Barbara took a group of teens that didn’t really know anything about music and turned us into an amazing band.

It takes love and support of a community to pull off a program like this and I hope to one day pass what I have learned from this once in a lifetime program to others.”

I wanted to thank you for the class…I had a lot of fun …though it was hard to write out things I really didn’t want to talk about. Now, I’m finding I actually enjoy it. “Barbara gave our kids a great music opportunity. She taught them how to put their thoughts on paper and keep adding to them until they created the lyrics of their song. They put it to music and practiced, practiced, practiced. She took them to a professional recording studio where the kids recorded the song piece by piece.

They worked long, hard hours putting it together with Barbara guiding and teaching them the process. At the end of the ten week program they produced a great song worthy of selling.

Some of these kids may go on to be come songwriters and musicians. For others, Barbara gave them the opportunity to see a song develop, something they will never experience.”
